Well, I set it up that way so that when we have more machines, it won't
have to be changed. What constitutes a ton of machines BTW? We've got
half a dozen right now and probably will hit 12 within the next 6-8 months.
Also, we've added a customer NT Server for hosting frontpage users, and
may add more NT servers for that stuff down the road...so I thought that
would better help to manage it later on.
Now, to an Optigold Question:
This is sort of an accounting thing that I wanted to know...
A while back you had suggested that when a customer pays for say a year up
front, that you create an invoice for 12 months and enter the matching
payment. Now, when that is done, the income for that shows up just for
that month, even though they are paying for the next 12. If you just enter
in their payment, and have their account credited each month for the next
12, then they would show up as income for each month. Now, to me, it seems
that for SALES, it should be reported as showing up that month only, but
for income/revenue, it should logically be spread over 12 months.
My question is this: Is there any way to create an invoice with a 12 month
credit, but at the same time for reporting it shows up over the next 12
months for income, or should we just create the payment, and have it show
up over the next 12 months when their invoices are automatically credited?
(I ask because you had said that technically the latter would mean that you
owed them money, and I was wondering if there was some workaround.)
