Correct.

That would be correct if you are trying to make an alias to bounce all
email to abc@iserve.net to abc@xyz.com (assuming your mailer supports
domain names in the login).

The email address it tries to send invoices to is the account login with
your domain attached to it. If you want it to go somewhere else (like
abc@xyz.com), you can specify it in the override email address on the
customer info screen.

That's how most people set it up... an alias that bounces email to
abc@xtz.com to their "REAL" email address (abc@iserve.net). It wouldn't
allow you to create an account with login os abc, because the login of
the customer is abc so it would work fine.
