Re: Secondary DNS and System RedundancyFrom: Tom Weishaar Date: Monday, May 12, 1997
Time: 2:50:00 amI'd like to buddy up with someone. We currently serve about 15
domains off the end of a 64K ISDN line that connects through an ISP in
Kansas City to the Sprint backbone. We run QuickDNS Pro and EIMS and
would continue to let our ISP be our primary DNS and email backup. The
buddy's machines would only be used when neither our machines nor our
ISP's could be reached.
When we add a new domain now, we simply let our ISP know so they can
add it to the list of domains they do secondary for. I assume this is
much the same procedure with QuickDNS Pro? In other words, when you add
or delete a domain, you notify your buddy and they add the domain to
their list of secondaries in QuickDNS Pro...no changes at all are needed
to EIMS. Have I got this right?
At any rate, if you're on a different backbone and want to work
together, let me know.
