QDNS responder should handle directoriesFrom: Pat McCormick Date: Wednesday, April 29, 1998
Time: 7:32:00 amI have several macs, each serving web content.
Each one has different plug-ins; some for fax, some for scripting, etc.
Because of this, I host different directories on each unit, based on configuration.
It would be nice if the QDNS Responder would 'learn' the directory structure
for the server it is on, or read ClearlyHome's configuration files, etc.
This would allow me to selectively copy some directories between different
Macs. Then, if the Responder saw the same directory on two machines, it would
automatically start to do load-sharing.
What I'm talking about is making the Responder directory-based. As it stands,
I need two identical servers before I can take advantage of the responder's
features. If I could somehow specify to the responder, which directories I
wish to distribute across multiple macs, andwhich ones only live on a
particular mac, I could continue along my path laziness and cheapness, yet
still realize the benefits of Men and Mice's hard work.
What do you think?
