I am getting up to 10/sec on and off for the last couple of months. Is
that normal? I am printing the log (over 45,000 entries) to try and see
the pattern.
I do not know how to "try to find out why these two servers are sending
your replys to queries you didn't ask".
What I meant by "intermittent server slow down" was that sometimes mail
gets transmitted at 10cps, DNS lookups go to the secondary server,
MacRadius is too slow so dialins time out and give up... There is almost
no http server traffic (like 2 hits a day) and, at the moment, we have
only 8-15 dialin lines activeas we are a very new user. The "sometimes"
interval can be an hour, a week, three weeks... Our dialins are answered
by a Livingston Portmaster 3, go via a 10Base-T out to the net via a
netopia router. The Mac sits around twiddling its thumbs most of the time
doing the "occasional" DNS lookup.

>198.142.12.2 : sydney2.world.net
Before, I ask hostmaster@world.net "why it is sending all this stuff", I
would like to know whether we initiated some of it. Can we log our
lookups? or would that slow us down too much?

Thank you, will do.
