Minor help requestFrom: Robert J. Woodhead (AnimEigo) Date: Tuesday, July 7, 1998
Time: 5:20:00 pmHaving switched over to qDNS from macDNS (quite happily I must admit) I am
now faced with the prospect of making sure that my setup is up to snuff.
Not being a DNS expert, I would appreciate any pointers.
1) Originally my animeigo.com DNS was set up by my ISP, and once or twice a
day he zone transfers from me. However, I think he's listed as the
primary, and I think I ought to be, with him as secondary. How does one
change that? I tried using the menandmice DNS tool but it tried to do zone
transfers from my ISP and then gave up.
2) Ditto on my other domains (selfpromotion.com, etc) that I run out of the
office (some aliased to my animeigo.com server, some on their own machines)
3) I *think* I've got everything set right, but I'm not sure. Each one of
my domains has:
an NS pointing to my nameserver
a MX pointing to animeigo.com (my mailserver)
A's and CNAMEs referring to various machines and aliases.
Any help would be appreciated. One thing that seemed to be lacking in the
qDNS doco was a good example of a "well-put-together" domain.
best
