PC Authorize and StuffFrom: Shawn Hogan Date: Tuesday, September 29, 1998
Time: 6:17:08 pmOkay... a bunch of stuff to blab about...
Is anyone using PC Authorize for their transactions?
It looks pretty nice, and they have a new plug-in that I'll be able to
integrate with Optigold ISP that allows seamless integration.
They also have a PC Authorize Hub version that allows for workstations to
authorize credit cards in real time through their lcoal network in real
time (there is a central hub that actually does it). But the coolest
thing is that it will have the ability to return BACK to Optigold if it
was approved, declined, etc.
Should be interesting... just wanted to let people know for the ones
using PC Authorize or for people who want a cool hub system so any
workstation can authorize credit cards, you may want to look at PC
Authorize Hub (www.tellan.com).
The ability of the credit card system to talk BACK to Optigold has me all
giddy... {grin} I can now do some cool things I've wanted to... Like if
you were using it, you could do away with the Payment Queue, since it
would automatically post the good ones. I could also make an automated
tasks that can run the billing batches at night automatically or
something with the Hub (like how you can automatically schedule a time to
generate invoices).
All I know is that PC Authorize Hub looks totally AWESOME.
I've also been playing with the ODBC/SQL plug-in that is part of the new
version of FileMaker Pro 4.1. Unfortunately, it's only a one-way pipe
(extracting data from ODBC/SQL databases). The next version I've been
promised will have the ability to write back *and* (this is the cool
part) have other apps read data via ODBC/SQL... so like you could
authenticate directly from the Optigold ISP database, etc. So that is
something I'm going to be looking at as soon as it's available.
And lastly... the SSL capable version of Web Companion almost
completed... So I'm going to be expanding the web interface for use when
it's here. Like give it the ability for customers to edit their billing
cycle if they want to change services, etc. Maybe make a basic way for
employees to look up customers on the web, etc. Should be interesting...
{shrug}
Pretty boring stuff... eh? :-)
