It's because the idea of delegating a classless subnet is fairly new (as
these things go), and fairly complicated, and many zone admins just plain
don't know how it works.

Curiouser and curiouser.

First, I checked out your IP addresses by asking a root server for your
name server, which led me to <mailbank.com>, and specifically to
209.133.104.8 (your mail server).

I checked the root servers who had authority for that address, and they
said <ns.above.net> is responsible for your class C. I asked <ns.above.net>
and it said <bmw.autobahn.org> is responsible for that class C, whereas
<ns.above.net> doesn't report itself as responsible. I'm not sure if that's
a legal delegation or not, but it sure seems questionable. The fact that
<ns.above.net> also has the zone in question is a no-no, though.

Anyway, <bmw.autobahn.org> has the same zone file as <ns.above.net>, so it
all works despite the errors.

After seeing all this, and finding no mention of lava.net, I started over.
This time, I started with 204.244.193.12, the address of <watts.net>.

The root servers delegate the enclosing class B subnet to <ns2.westel.com>,
which in turn delegates the enclosing class C subnet to <ns1.freeview.com>.
Freeview has the zone, but doesn't list itself as a responsible name
server. Instead, it redelegates the class C to the various name servers of
<mailbank.com>. (Sound familiar?)

<ns1.mailbank.com> appears to be the authoritative server for your address.
I still find no mention of lava.net.

I hope this helps clear things up a bit for you.
