The right way to create subdomains? From: Mikkel Nepper-Christensen Date: Tuesday, May 4, 1999
Time: 7:17:00 amHi there
I want to create a subdomain "test.mousehouse.as". The name servers for mousehouse.as are
dns.mousehouse.dk (SOA)
and
ns2.mousehouse.dk
In order to create the test.mousehouse.as subdomain, should I:
1. Just add the hosts I need in the primary mousehouse.as domain file, like:
www.test.mousehouse.as. A 195.97.137.7
ftp.test.mousehouse.as. CNAME www.test.mousehouse.as.
or
2. Create a new domain "test.mousehouse.as" on the primary server and
add the domain to the secondary domain server. Then create the hosts
I need in the test.mousehouse.as primary domain.
If (2) is correct, then: Is there anything QDNS specific in this procedure or is it the same thing for all name servers?
In both (1) and (2): Should I in any other way let the outside world know that I have created the subdomain?
Can anyone help?
