Wouldn't it be simpler to have the following setup?
ns.host.com. A ip.address.of.machine
mailhost.host.com. A ip.address.of.machine
reversed.ip.address. PTR mailhost.host.com.
That way, the mail server sees itself as mailhost.host.com., while QuickDNS
Pro doesn't care. No CNAME records are involved. It is true that with this
setup, <ns.host.com> resolves to <ip.address.of.machine>, which in turn
resolves to <mailhost.host.com>, but that shouldn't be a problem.
