Well, after asking the question, I just decided to try it, and told my machines that the DNS server was on the DNS machine's second IP address. No problems at all. Turns out that the reason I wasn't getting it to work at first was a simple typo. So it looks like it doesn't need to be an additional feature; it's working already!
