Delegation data is NS records in parent domains. An example should make
this clear:
You have a domain called interrupt9.com. You have the following NS record:
interrupt9.com. NS dns.interrupt9.com.
However, Internic has the following NS records on the root servers for you:
interrupt9.com. NS dns1.atlantech.net.
interrupt9.com. NS dns2.atlantech.net.
dns1.atlantech.net has the same NS record for your domain as your server does.
All of this adds up to a lame delegation, since your delegation records
(the NS records on the root servers) lead to a server that is not
authoritative. This needs to be fixed.
>How can I change Delegation Data in QDNS?
In the above example, you can't fix this with QuickDNS Pro. You need to
either (a) get atlantech.net to act as secondary for you on both of their
servers (as named above), or (b) tell Internic to change their records.
With solution (a), you'd need to add the atlantech.net servers to your zone
file, like this:
interrupt9.com. NS dns1.atlantech.net.
interrupt9.com. NS dns2.atlantech.net.
With solution (b), you'd need to find a second server before having
Internic update their records, since they require you to have at least two
name servers on record.
>What do I need to do to make recursive entries match DNS entries?
Not sure what you mean here. Do you mean reverse entries? That depends on
the situation.
In the case of interrupt9.com, where only 1 address is involved, the
reverse record is handled by atlantech.net. Since they map it to
interrupt9.com, there should be an A record for interrupt9.com:
interrupt9.com. A 209.183.206.219
Aside from this, running DNS Expert on the domain will give errors relating
to reverse (PTR) records. These can be safely ignored.
I hope this helps.
