EIMS and QuickDNSFrom: Mia''s Virtual Post Office Date: Wednesday, August 11, 1999
Time: 3:28:00 pmI am referring this here, since Glenn (qualcomm/EIMS list) indicated to
me that EIMS is not causing, and does not cause a crash on our server.
Here is the a snip from my post to the EIMS list:

<GLENN>
This is typical of the QDNS bug, EIMS will do a DNS lookup (or
something else will when EIMS is running) and QDNS runs off the
network interrupt (through several layers of stuff, but it interrupts
EIMS anyway) so EIMS is still the current application when the QDNS
code crashes, so EIMS is dumped by the operating system. Chances are
things are badly messed up and you should reboot anyway.
<ME>

<GLENN>
While it is possible, I have yet to find any crashing bugs in EIMS
2.2.2. I would need a MacsBug log to tell.
<end snip>
Can anyone shed some light on the is problem? I really don't think there
is a bug in QDNS. Is there? The server is running fine now.. We ran
TechTool and it fixed some problems with the finder, and I did a fresh
reinstall of both QDNS and EIMS, and all seems fine at the moment.
PS I am now running the current version of QDNS.
