Re: Stupid Newbie QuestionsFrom: Jim Ludwig Date: Thursday, August 12, 1999
Time: 11:52:00 pmOkay,
First off, I had the mother of all battles with InterNIC, aka Network
Confusions over the past couple of months. On the bright side, I have
learned a great deal about how this process works.
1.) You need to register a Host with InterNIC. This is a form on their web
site. This process can take several days to weeks, since they are updating
their process, or translated, nothing is working quite right yet.
2.) Once you get confirmation of your host being added to the InterNIC
database, you then need to then bring up your server with the domains
loaded. If they are already registered on another DNS server, you will need
to put in a Host Change Form to tell InterNIC that you are now hosting those
Domains on this new host.
Another thought: If you are already running another DNS server, is that
machine registered with InterNIC? If so, why not just swap the IP address
on that machine to the new machine?
Hope this helps.
Jim Ludwig
