Config problems -- multihoming with a modem connectionFrom: Paul S Vail Date: Wednesday, September 15, 1999
Time: 8:05:00 pmFolks, I have a problem and have not yet heard back from customer
support, so I'll toss it out here:
I've encountered significant trouble in configuring my QuickDNS to
recognize multiple IP addresses for multihoming using the following
configuration:
Temporary hardware: Duo2300 in a dock with a hayes-compat 56k external
modem running with 56 Mb of RAM and a 2 Gb hard drive. QuickDNS 2.2.1
and Webstar 4.1pb2 with the latest plugins Eric has posted (including the
mail b11). OS 8.6.
---
If you have experience with OS8.6 and a single modem, you'll note that
the TCP/IP control panel does not permit the entry of subnet mask or
router information... because there is no router in the system.
While my primary IP number is accessable and fully functional, any and
all other IP numbers I configure the IP secondary pref file with are NOT.
Is there a way to work around this? What am I missing? Or does QuickDNS
require a router for use in this fashion?
Paul
