Different OS versions have different versions of AppleScript, some (all) of them buggy (but with different bugs). For example, AppleScript 1.4 (MacOS 9) has introduced a new bug, where the Finder doesn't understand the "folder" object properly. (Technically, this isn't a bug in AppleScript, but in the Finder.)
