Can''t get an error to go away

Folks,

I had an error in an MX record, an incorrect MX domain name.
I sent mail to the domain name and received back.
" ----- Transcript of session follows -----
550 <Robert.Coleman@colemanpublishing.com>... Host unknown (Name server:
nerporium.com.: host not found)"
Actual domain is netporium.com.
I corrected the MX error in the DNS record.
The problem continued.
I removed the DNS record, rewrote it. Problem continued. Restarted. Problem
continued. Restarted and rebuilt desk top. Problem continued. Changed
preferences from back up copies for both EIMS and Quick DNS. Problem
continued. Tried every other variation on a theme I could think of. Problem
continued.
Something somewhere is caching incorrect info for a DNS record when mail is
processed but 2 1/2 hours of looking for that place has yet to turn this
up. Where would a DNS error be able to hide? I thought that each reference
to a domain is searched for in the primary datafile but I was obviously
wrong. Anyone who has a clue please drop me a line.
I was thinking of setting up WebStar's mail functionality to see if it
would go around this, but that could be many more hours with no guarantee
that that would solve the problem since I haven't even been able to
pinpoint whether this is an EIMS or a QDNS problem.
I have numerous other mail accounts for other domains working perfectly,
BTW, and setting up new mail accounts is usually a 5 minute job.
Quick DNS Pro Server 1.1.2, EIMS 1.1.2, Mac 7250/120.
