At startup, each file is opened, read into memory, and closed. Files are not opened simultaneously.

After that, once every few minutes, QuickDNS scans the folder's contents, looking at modification dates. If a file's mod date doesn't match what it had when it was last read, the file is dumped out of memory and re-read.
