I thought the EIMS/QDNS problem was caused by the interrupt driven nature of QDNS and the asynchronous DNS lookups of EIMS, and when EIMS does DNS lookups the interrupts cause some kind of confusion causing a crash. I think Glenn Anderson has commented on this.
I guess a solution would be if the EIMS server machine used another DNS resolver in TCP/IP than itself.
