On WebSTAR-talk a couple of days ago, there was a discussion of the longer
domain names allowed by some of the new registrars. It was mentioned that
NSI's old limit of 22 characters was an artifact of older versions of BIND,
and that, since some of those older name servers may still be running out
there on the net, it might not be such a good thing to be using longer
names that they might choke on. Not to mention that longer names can to be
unwieldy from a user's pov. Thoughts anyone? Are the new longer domain
names going to cause problems in the real world, even if they're allowed
under the RFCs?
