>I'm hoping someone has a suggestion, because I'm about ready to call Dr. Kevorkian! Our server is crashing every few hours, and I've thought of everything I can. It's a blue G3 tower running freshly installed OS 9, QuickDNS Pro 2.2.1, WebStar 4.1, Lasso 3.5, FM Pro 4.1v3, and Rebound 2.01. It has a dedicated T1 connection, and the system has been stripped down to nothing. It normally runs with two 128MB RAM modules, and I've run it with both and with each individually.

It never has a problem starting up but then hangs later. Rebound (when installed) is always able to restart it, but that's a not a good permanent solution, obviously.

We had an icmp echo type 8 attack that caused exactly this, except it was OS 8.6. For us OS 9 cured the problem, we also added a filter to our router, Cisco 1600 series, and added NetBarrier. We have exactly the same setup as you, except for the added NetBarrier, we also couldn't get the Rebound to work so it isn't currently installed on the G3.

I hope this helps you.
