It doesn't look like your ISP is doing _anything_ with your reverse zone. As
Chris Buxton has pointed out, there's no delegation of your class C zone.
Starting from the root servers, delegation information stops at the class B
zone, which is delegated to sprintlink:
Server: a.root-servers.net
Address: 198.41.0.4
Authoritative answers can be found from:
1.208.IN-ADDR.ARPA nameserver = NS1-AUTH.SPRINTLINK.NET
1.208.IN-ADDR.ARPA nameserver = NS2-AUTH.SPRINTLINK.NET
1.208.IN-ADDR.ARPA nameserver = NS3-AUTH.SPRINTLINK.NET
The sprintlink name servers don't have any records for your class C zone
(125.1.208.IN-ADDR.ARPA). So, to the internet at large, there is no reverse
DNS info for your addresses.

It's not just your mail server -- no one can do a reverse lookup for
208.1.125.162, because of the above.

The problem is that they don't. Or if they do, no one knows that they do,
because authority for the zone hasn't been delegated to them.

Yes.

It could certainly be a contributing factor, since some mail servers rely on
reverse lookups for certain functions (like checking to see if a From: address
is from a valid domain).

Amen Brother Buxton!
