Re: how to implement wildcards? From: Donovan Watts Date: Thursday, February 10, 2000
Time: 8:43:00 amChris, to be sure, can I have an A record vs. a CNAME record like:
*.websurfhawaii.com. A frontier.websurfhawaii.com.
-------
What about it didn't work? This is exactly what should work. You
might even want to give them email, such as
"user@yoursitename.websurfhawaii.com". In this case, you'd want more
wildcard records:
*.websurfhawaii.com. CNAME frontier.websurfhawaii.com.
*.websurfhawaii.com. MX 10 mail.websurfhawaii.com.
*.websurfhawaii.com. MX 15 mail2.websurfhawaii.com.
*.websurfhawaii.com. MX 20 ns1.lava.net.
*.websurfhawaii.com. MX 30 lists.websurfhawaii.com.
Just be aware that this won't work for any name that already has any
other record.
