Oh, that's not a good thing. You shouldn't use the same domain name for both intranet and Internet. It always leads to problems.

I assume you want to do this so that you don't have to enter each name in both places. I'm afraid you're pretty much out of luck. You could possibly achieve your stated goal using CNAME records, but then you'd have to maintain a second set of A records on your public servers, which would defeat the overall goal.

I generally recommend that intranet domains end in something that will never conflict with an Internet domain, such as "domain.lan". So for example, instead of using "meridianmap.com" for your intranet domain, you'd use "meridianmap.lan". You can then use a search domain name in your TCP/IP settings so that you never have to type in your intranet domain name.
