Jim,

Here's one way they can do it. There are other options, but this way is clean and functional.

They currently have these records:

206.183.209.in-addr.arpa. NS host2.atlantech.net.
206.183.209.in-addr.arpa. NS host3.atlantech.net.
218.206.183.209.in-addr.arpa. PTR www.medrick.org.
219.206.183.209.in-addr.arpa. NS dns.interrupt9.com.

These records might be written in their zone file in this shorthand notation:

@ NS host2.atlantech.net.
NS host3.atlantech.net.
218 PTR www.medrick.org.
219 NS dns.interrupt9.com.

These should be changed to the following:

interrupt9 NS dns.interrupt9.com.
interrupt9 NS host2.atlantech.net.
interrupt9 NS host3.atlantech.net.
218 CNAME 218.interrupt9
219 CNAME 219.interrupt9

This shorthand can be expanded to the following:

interrupt9.206.183.209.in-addr.arpa. NS dns.interrupt9.com.
interrupt9.206.183.209.in-addr.arpa. NS host2.atlantech.net.
interrupt9.206.183.209.in-addr.arpa. NS host3.atlantech.net.
218.206.183.209.in-addr.arpa. CNAME

218.interrupt9.206.183.209.in-addr.arpa.
219.206.183.209.in-addr.arpa. CNAME

219.interrupt9.206.183.209.in-addr.arpa.

They also should configure their servers (host2 and host3) to act as secondary servers for the zone "interrupt9.206.183.209.in-addr.arpa.".

Furthermore, the reverse zone 206.183.209.in-addr.arpa is delegated to dns1.atlantech.net and dns2.atlantech.net. They should have this changed to host2.atlantech.net and host3.atlantech.net.

This also requires changes to your records. If your ISP decides to make changes to my suggestions for their records, you'll have to make equivalent alterations to the following suggestions.

You currently have these records:

206.183.209.in-addr.arpa. NS dns.interrupt9.com.
206.183.209.in-addr.arpa. NS dns1.atlantech.net.
218.206.183.209.in-addr.arpa. PTR census.interrupt9.com.
219.206.183.209.in-addr.arpa. PTR dns.interrupt9.com.

This needs to be changed. First, open the Domain Information dialog and change the name of the zone from "206.183.209.in-addr.arpa." to "interrupt9.206.183.209.in-addr.arpa."

This will change all of your records. Next, remove the second NS record (the one that refers to "dns1.atlantech.net.") and add the following new NS records:

interrupt9.206.183.209.in-addr.arpa. NS host2.atlantech.net.
interrupt9.206.183.209.in-addr.arpa. NS host3.atlantech.net.
