Well... just do you don't waste your time... it IS a problem with the
telnet client (it being slow), not your server(s).
It's something that we are working on (a complete rewrite of the telnet
client), which is about a 10,000% speed increase.
RSH and SSH would be way faster just because it's a single command line
with certain assumptions (that there is a RSH/SSH service waiting to
receive the command).
