Re: QuickDNS Pro -> BIND ?

Hey Jonathan,

My Sys Admin set up a Linux/BIND name server a secondary of our
QuickDNS Pro primary. It grabs all the DNS data from the primary and
stores it in BIND. He claims that at any time we can switch the IPs
of the two systems and make BIND the primary. We haven't actually
tried it yet however since I like how easy it is to administer
QuickDNS Pro myself. I don't know BIND myself.

I don't read the list carefully anymore since I'm doing the company
management path instead of hands-on server admin, so forgive me if
I'm talking about something covered recently...

Feature Request: if you haven't done it already, please add a
password protection option for when launching the QDNS admin app.

Product Suggestion: Is there any chance that QuickDNS Pro can be used
as the basis for a future product that would have the same or similar
UI, and could act as an administration client for a BIND name server
running on another system? If not, the Mice & Men team should
consider this a piece of strategic advice. If you could make this
client run on Mac and Windows, you would expand your market
substantially.

QDNS is a great product. We are still running Primary and a Secondary
DNS on two old PowerMac 6100s. If I can fend off my BIND and
Linux-centric Sys Admin, we'll keep using it.
