Re: CrashesFrom: Michael Reid Date: Wednesday, May 10, 2000
Time: 5:24:55 amHi,
I don't know if this might help, but it seems that with MacOS 9, the
startup volume is automatically set for indexing with Sherlock II. I
only noticed this today and I have no idea why this would be on by
default. In my mind this would only waste CPU cycles on your server
and unless you're running a search engine for your website (for which
there are better choices), I would turn this off.
With regard to Chris Buxton's suggestion to install MacsBug, this is
a good idea, but I've found that using Tenon's version that
automatically logs and reboots after a crash is a lot more useful
(and will keep your server up an running):
ftp://ftp.tenon.com/pub/Mac_Utilities/MacsBug-AutoDump-6.6.sit.hqx
Cheers,
Michael.
