It sounds like OTTool isn't following up on the CNAME.
When I ask DNS Expert to look up PTR records for 195.53.92.111, it finds:
111.92.53.195.in-addr.arpa. CNAME 111.64.92.53.195.in-addr.arpa.
111.64.92.53.195.in-addr.arpa. PTR www.eps.es.
64.92.53.195.in-addr.arpa. NS artemis.ttd.net.
64.92.53.195.in-addr.arpa. NS osiris.eps.es.
Note that the parent zone is delegated to one of these same servers:
92.53.195.in-addr.arpa. NS artemis.ttd.net.
92.53.195.in-addr.arpa. NS minerva.ttd.net.
So if you ask artemis.ttd.net for PTR records for the address in
question, you'll get the whole answer. If you ask minerva.ttd.net,
you'll get only the first record, the CNAME - it is then up to the
resolver to find the PTR record from there.
Perhaps the resolver built into OTTool doesn't properly handle this
case (called a dangling CNAME). So half the time, it should work
fine, and the other half the time, it'll run into a dangling CNAME
and fail.
