Yikes.. Sorry Dale, we are one of those providers that restricts
transfers.. Reason being, we had an incident a while back where a dialup
customer from an ISP in another state did a zone transfer on our network
to find out what was where on our network. Then he got a dialup account
with us and began snooping via a shell account here. This set off some
alarms, and my Linux Tech canned him after finding our zone files in his
home directory. Did not do any damage, but we noticed this activity and
thought we should do things to prevent it again. We also setup access
lists in our router to prevent dialup customers on our network from
snooping around at our servers, or our customer servers.
I can add you servers here to the list of "OK" to do zone transfers, or
if you have a static IP abroad, let me know and we will add it so you can
do transfers.
