problem with qdns and secondary ip address

hello,

a few weeks ago i reported a problem with qdns concerning different
results when testing domains with different clients. dns expert and
nslookup gave good results while dig runs into a timeout.

the german registration authorities use dig for domain registry
automation so we have trouble to connect new domains with qdns
servers involved (and have to use our linux dns until today;-)

it has turned out now, that whenever a secondary ip address, or more
than one, are in use on the qdns servers some clients especially dig
will fail. this happens even when the qdns server is bound to the
primary ip address (as enterd in the tcp/ip control panel). if there
is only the primary address, qdns connectivity worked.

other software like the ASIP services (mail, ftp) are working on the
secondary address, so i dont think its an open transport problem.

i havent used a protocol analyzer yet, but i think the problem could
be simply reproduced at any qdns site.

the problem is quite important as we are trying not to change
ip-addresses of public services and today it is possible to run more
services on the same computer (in this case ASIP mail and qdns)

another issue: is there a place for standard apple scripts useful
with qdns, like creating domains from a list or changing domains, or
similar things. it would be nice if menandmice could provide a few
scripts on their website and helpful for applescript newbies (like
me;-)
