Load Balancing questionFrom: Dennis J. Bonsall, Jr. Date: Saturday, June 10, 2000
Time: 7:00:12 pmWhat's the best way to set up a load balancing record for both a record
listing the hostname (www) prepended, and one without? I seem to
remember being told once in the past not to setup two LBR's for the same
domain. And, on top of that, when I have tried, I have run into
problems of being unable to save changes to the domain, until I deleted
both, and then re-entered only one in. Of course, if there is no way to
load balance the domain itself, then the domain is pointed only to one
server. If that server is down, the site cannot be accessed without
entering the www in front of the domain (something a lot of people won't
even try). Is there a way around this? Otherwise, if not, then the one
server to which all the domain records are primarily pointed to becomes
far more important that the other, as there is no backup for domains
entered in a browser without the host...
(I hope that made sense..)
Thanks,
Dennis
