{lol} Nah... while it's good in theory... For example 4.0, 4.1 and 3.0 were
all inter-compatible, there is only so much you can do and maintain backward
compatibility. I've never heard of any database that has even the single
version of backward compatibility that the previous version of FileMaker
had.
It has a built-in conversion utility so if you open an old version it
automatically converts it, but for using it in a client/server architecture
and having 3.0-4.1 clients using it just as 5.0 clients are at the same time
would be impossible and hold up the database itself. If it did do that,
there would be zero reason to migrate Optigold to 5.0, because by moving to
5.0, all the legacy stuff can be thrown out, and things can be done
differently (better) because of the new engine.
