PTR records and DNS expertFrom: Mia''s Virtual Post Office Date: Monday, October 30, 2000
Time: 9:30:36 amWe are having a goofy "on and off again" problem with inverse DNS on our
mail server's IP. If I run DNS Expert, it will return our mail server IP
mail.mia.net (208.146.240.195) as pointing to an old record that we
pulled about 1 1/2 weeks ago.. so 208.146.240.195 will sometime point to
a place holder IP we had instead of mail.mia.net. However, if I run
NSlookup from various networks on the IP and the name, it resolves
correctly every time. Also, sometimes DNS Expert does not display this
error. It is quite sparatic. Could it be a problem with DNS expert, or
some old root servers that do not have current info? Again, this is over
a 1 1/2 since the new PTR/A records were entered.
thanx.
