Ah, but is it still the best? Have you seen the 3rd edition? DNS &
BIND is pretty thoroughly Unix oriented now - it wasn't so heavy on
the Unix when I read it years ago (2nd edition, I think).

On the other hand, a great deal of DNS knowledge, without much
platform-specific stuff, is contained in our online glossary of DNS
terms:
<http://interaction.menandmice.com/glossary/>

Furthermore, though they haven't updated the site for years, meaning
some of the info is out of date, and though about halfway through the
formatting goes wonky, there's still a fairly nice intro to DNS from
the Mac perspective at:
<http://www.pism.com/chapt09/>

The manual for 3.0 should also be fairly impressive. Our goal for
this manual is to obsolete DNS & BIND for the clueless. DNS & BIND
states that it assumes that the reader has a fairly high level of
knowledge. We're trying to write a manual accessible to those without
such pervious experience.
