Well, here's what works for us:
We do a low level format, writing zeros to the drive.
Install OS 9
Run software update a few times til no more updates are available.
Install QDNS
Install Timbukto
Set tcp/ip to always be on.
We turn off some extraneous stuff, but have been a little less aggressive
about this lately.
Then for our DNS, which we consider to be _the_ most important service we
run, 2 locally and one on a remote network. we run only Quick DNS and TB2 on
those machines and nothing else. (except 1 of the local ones, which runs
SIMS as a third mail server)
I can say QDNS works fine by itself, but we used to have problems running it
on the same box as webstar, and I've heard similar stories with other
software.
