In the interest of exploring all the possibilities, I checked the
delegation for these zones. They're both delegated from Cable &
Wireless to the following three servers:

247.146.208.in-addr.arpa. NS ns1.frii.com.
247.146.208.in-addr.arpa. NS ns2.frii.com.
247.146.208.in-addr.arpa. NS ns2.winterlan.com.

None of these servers has authoritative data regarding either zone.
So I'm wondering, why is your server trying to look up the SOA
records for these zones? It's not listed in the delegation records.
And what server is it contacting in this effort?

Be assured that we're investigating the problem you're having, but
we're not having any luck so far in reproducing it, isolating it, etc.
