Turns out it isn't Earthlink's problem. What happened was that
somehow during the reconfig to use Earthlink the DNS settings got
reset to my old isp (which was my old secondary). And it's the old
ISP that's screwed up, they still think they are a secondary, and
they are holding old stale data.

Same problem but I can walk over to the old ISP and whack the right
(wrong?) people upside the head, and I can avoid it anyway by
specifying my own dns server as one of the servers checked by PPP.
