I just think it would be a bad idea... aside from the potential data
entry problems, you would also limit yourself since you would have to
clear the payment queue (as in having them all posted or deleted) before
you could create any additional ones.

Well, you would have to key it off something that was unique. Customer
name isn't necessarily unique. It most cases it is, but not always.
