Are you saying you added a slave zone entry to your master (primary)
server for a zone that it already hosts? If so, that's not correct.
You should be adding such slave zones to the slave (secondary) server.

When you add a slave zone to a server, you're telling that server
that it should act as a slave server for that zone. It doesn't
connect you to another server.

When you click on Server View, if you're not seeing your slave
server, then click on the Connect to Server button and connect to
your slave server. You can be connected to more than one server at a
time.

If Add Slave Zone is grayed out in the menu, that means that you
don't have a server selected (highlighted) in the Manager window.
