NetSol also sells their whois query database to anyone who can pony
up $10,000. Cybersquatters such as BuyDomains.com datamine the files
and grab domains which show interest with an automated system --
precluding individuals from having what I idealistically consider to
be a fair chance (silly me). To be fair to NetSol, this is actually
a policy statement created by ICANN by which all registrars must
abide (sell data when asked). Clearly, ICANN must have been high on
crack when they wrote that policy, for it does the exact opposite of
leveling the playing field for domains -- it creates a cartel by
which the common person is placed squarely out of the registration
market. NetSol will also not release a public policy on when they
release expired domains to the public, citing privacy concerns. When
a domain is released, it is often snatched up by BuyDomains.com to be
made available for resale at a modest markup, say from 20 to 300
times their purchase price.
If you elect to use NetSol as your register, you contribute to this
behavior. There are other registers available. A qualified list is
available from internic.net.
Enjoy your hosting.
