Re: Offer CodeFrom: Mike Ray Date: Friday, June 1, 2001
Time: 9:02:07 pmHi Shawn,
I had a problem with this recently. Our dialup access is 20.00/mo. I
created a one-time item for a promotion where we offer 3 months free. The
one time item was used as the setup item for the recurring plan, and it had
no price but was worth 3 months of service. However, even though the item
SHOWED it was worth 3 months of service, it actually didn't extend the
expiration date past the subscription date. Instead, I had to make that
item 0 months and a price of -60.00, which I didn't want to do since it
might result in us refunding cash to someone who cancels before their 3
months are up. What do you think happened?
Thanks,
Mike

You could have an offer code that gives them access to the special
product... have that product be worth $1,000 for 1 month of service. Then
have the setup fee for that product worth -$999 and 5 months of service.
Their first invoice will have both items on the invoice... giving the total
of the invoice $1 with 6 months of service. Then their billing cycle item
is the $1,000/month item so it will pick up there when they are up for
renewal.

Yeah, that one would get tricky... basically you would need to set a Change
To on the billing cycle item. You can set a billing cycle item to change to
something else on a certain date.
