Time: 9:29:30 pmSure, you can do it with two servers. The problem is, if you are making your
internal DNS authoritative for the zone [for your LAN], and don't enter the
www CNAME or A record, that DNS server will answer no such server [no second
try]. You would have to duplicate ALL the records you want to be active.
You might make the external server a slave [secondary] of the internal
server to ease administration. Even then, all records would have to be on
both servers.
