Good question. There are (seemingly random) man pages missing from OS X for a
few other common commands as well. I find it rather irritating. One
work-around is to read the missing man pages on some other system (FreeBSD,
Linux, etc.), but that only works if you've got access to such a system and
you have to keep in mind that there may be differences (usually minor) in some
of the programs as implemented on OS X and the system on which you read the
man pages. I suppose that, if you wanted to be industrious, you could download
copies of the relevant pages and install them into OS X's man directories by
hand, but finding copies of man pages for the correct versions of commands
might be problematic.
