Chris,

Thank you for providing the details of reverse zone delegation.
Please bear with me, as I want to be sure I understand the end
of the thread.

Starting with our domain softlinkcorp.com, which resolves to
208.184.a.b, the reverse zone for the Class C block is
a.184.208.in-addr.arpa. The c.root-servers.net server says that
the parent zone (234.64.in-addr.arpa.) is delegated to above.net:

184.208.in-addr.arpa. NS 345600 ns.above.net.
184.208.in-addr.arpa. NS 345600 ns3.above.net.

and ns.above.net says that a.184.208.in-addr.arpa. is delegated
to our ISP's servers:

a.184.208.in-addr.arpa. NS 86400 ns1.lan2wan.com.
a.184.208.in-addr.arpa. NS 86400 c2smtp.lan2wan.com.
a.184.208.in-addr.arpa. NS 86400 access1.lan2wan.com.
a.184.208.in-addr.arpa. NS 86400 access3.lan2wan.net.
a.184.208.in-addr.arpa. NS 86400 dns.commerchant.com.

Querying the lan2wan.com servers for the PTR record
b.a.184.208.in-addr.arpa gives:

b.a.184.208.in-addr.arpa. PTR 86400 b-a-184-208.dsl.lan2wan.com.

So above.net is using the "classless subnet reverse zone method"
and lan2wan picked the naming scheme, right?

What would be involved in having the reverse DNS for our small
block, 208.184.a.b, b+4 delegated to us?

Thanks,
Gary
