Hi Shawn,
Since I'm only number 10 on the "most popular" list, I'm going to
have to post a whole bunch of messages so I can unseat Alexi.
Since you brought up the subject of an online signup system, I
need to ask a few questions. That very subject has generated a
lot of discussion between employees here. Let me explain what
we've been considering and then you can tell me if I'm way off
base or if your new system will work for us and keep me from
having to figure this out.
We are not using FMPro, just the runtime.
We have Optigold dump a RADIUS file for us on a specific
schedule. That is fine except for one problem, which will be
mentioned later.
One of the main features of our ISP is that we go to the
customer's house and install them and show them how to use the Net.
I have created a script that our setup people can access from a
web page. They enter the new customer's username and password
and the script automatically puts the login info in RADIUS. The
setup people then remotely restart RADIUS and everyone is happy
and the new customer can login.
The problem is that the new customer is not in Optigold, so if
the timing of events is off just a bit, Optigold will dump a new
RADIUS file and the new people that were just installed no longer
can log on because, of course, Optigold doesn't know them.
I was thinking I could make my setup script conform to the fields
that Hurlnet uses and then make sure that Optigold does a HURLnet
import *just before* it does a RADIUS dump.
The big question is: If I go this route and Optigold imports the
new customers from a HURLnet file, does Optigold immediately
include those customers in it's RADIUS dump?
Is all of this moot now that you have an online signup, even
though we're not using FMPro?
Thanks much,
Lance
