Re: another config problemFrom: Men & Mice Support Date: Thursday, June 14, 2001
Time: 1:54:46 pmThe problem is that you have these MX records:
www.rsegroup.com. MX 5 pop.rsegroup.com.
www.rsegroup.com. MX 25 monster.rsegroup.com.
www.rsegroup.com. MX 50 supermail.globaldialog.com.
but your mail server isn't configured to accept mail for
www.rsegroup.com. If you don't want to have mail sent to
<address@rsegroup.com>, then remove the MX records named
www.rsegroup.com. Otherwise, configure your mail server
(pop.rsegroup.com) to accept mail for that name.
The message from AOL was simply trying to test your setup to see if
you're an open relay. Specifically, they were testing for a known
weakness in some mail servers, which would translate the address
<mailrelay%aol.net@www.rsegroup.com> into the address
<mailrelay@aol.net> and forward the message to that address. If they
had received the message, they would have known that your server is
an open relay, and they would have then made it very difficult for
you to send mail to AOL users.
