If you can use the IP address of your old primary on the Linux server, you don't have to make any changes to the zone configuration or the delegation.
If the Linux server will use a different IP address than the old primary, you basically have two options:
Option #1 - Use the same host name for the Linux server as for the old Mac server.
If you use this option, you don't need to change the zone files. However, you must change the delegation so that the address for the Linux server is used instead of the old IP address of the Mac server.
Option #2 - The new server has a different host name
This is the most likely scenario. If you use this option you must:
- Update the delegation information for all of your zones to use the new host name and IP address.
- Change the information in the Primary field of the SOA record. Note that this is not a high priority item as this information is only for human consumption (DNS servers don't use this data), but you should do this anyhow.
