Re: QDNS server freezeFrom: Greg Saulsbury Date: Monday, July 9, 2001

We too have had this exact problem (BW G3, EIMS, MacRadius). We had one of
our own Windows NT servers that was set to do a zone transfer and regardless
as to wether we allowed it or not it would crash on QDNS servers. That
saver was upgraded to Win2k and the problem went away. I have also had some
unix box's try and do zone transfers when not allowed and would cause QDNS
lockups.
My gut feeling it that it may be some type of malformed zone transfer
request that causes the freeze. I must add that our dns servers have been
quite stable for the last 6 months.... But when they do start freezing it
is the same pattern as you described.
