Changing ISP''sFrom: Nicholas Orr Date: Monday, July 23, 2001
Time: 6:26:57 pmG'day all,
I'm switching to a new ISP with new IP numbers for my DNS and mail
services. I'll have no trouble moving the DNS thanks to QuickDNS, it
just makes life easy. However moving mail is going to be a different
matter. I've been told to set my TTL to a smaller value.
I understand the principles behind this, and know roughly how to manage
it, but which TTL? the "default" one for the domain, or the one I only
just noticed for the mail record itself?
Are there any other values in the DNS I should be altering as well?
Thanks,
Nick
